Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest is a Japanese manga series written and storyboarded by Hiro Mashima, and illustrated by Atsuo Ueda. It is a sequel to Mashima’s Fairy Tail series, focusing on Natsu Dragneel and his team from the titular wizard guild as they aim to complete an unfinished, century-old mission. The manga was launched in Kodanshas Magazine Pocket manga app in July 2018, and is licensed by Kodansha USA for an English release in North America. As of April 2023, fourteen tankōbon volumes have been released in Japan. An anime television series adaptation has been announced. Plot One year following the demise of Zeref and Acnologia, Natsu Dragneel and his team from the Fairy Tail wizard guild embark on the 100 Years Quest, a mission that has been unaccomplished for over a century, on the northern continent of Guiltina. I was really hoping Gold Owl had a deeper plan than just an up cycled evil Pinocchio but I guess more fool me for excessive expectations at this point? I could complain about a plan seeking Dragon magic to turn Athena into a real girl, when a major plot point was it turning Humans into Dragons, but we seem to have taken a bit of a tangent away from that, if Lucy’s proposal is actually accepted. Does make me more curious what Ueda could do if they took over the writing wholesale, though. Mashima is clearly stretched too thin with EZ and his other new projects to give 100YQ the attention it needs/ deserves.
